The daily bag limit for Lake Erie walleye might be cut in 2010, but Ohio's fishermen might have to wait until spring to get the official news.
With Lake Erie's walleye population perilously close to 15 million, a level so low it is classified as a crisis mode, the Ohio Division of Wildlife might restrict sport anglers in 2010 to stay within recommendations from the Lake Erie Committee of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission. The LEC sets the lakewide total allowable catch of walleye for Ontario and the states bordering Lake Erie at its annual meeting in March.
